Utah SBA guaranteed 1,314 loans to small businesses, totaling over $579 million. Each of these loans was made through SBA approved banks, credit unions, and certified development companies. Additionally, $183 million in federal contracts were awarded to Utah small businesses through SBA contracting programs.

Before becoming Utah District Director, Nakano served as Chief of Portfolio Management for the Utah District Office. Nakano has an education background in finance and managed the SBA lending department for a Utah bank before joining SBA.
